Apperley Bridge Station – on the line between Leeds and Bradford Forster Square – has been formally opened, five days after the introduction of a half-hourly train service.
It is one of three new stations opening in West Yorkshire over the next few months, the others being at Kirkstall Forge – further up the Airedale line towards Leeds – and Low Moor, between Halifax and Bradford Interchange. A southern entrance at Leeds Station is also close to completion.
In this short video, Dave Taylor, who acted as Project Director for construction contractor Spencer, reflects on some of the engineering challenges involved.
Beaulieu Park railway station on the Great Eastern Main Line in Essex just outside of Chelmsford could be built in 4-5 years time along with new homes and local shops to be built as part of the Beaulieu Park development outskirts of Chelmsford.
In what way is that relevant to Yorkshire?
Well I heard about the new Beaulieu Park railway station outskirts of Chelmsford on BBC Look East and ITV Anglia and the new railway station is in talks with Chelmsford City Council, Network Rail, Essex County Council and Abellio Greater Anglia as well the housing development company who are to build up to 5000 new homes, primary school and small retail shops as part of the Beaulieu Park and Springfield housing development which the new Beaulieu Park station should be built in 5 years time.
Still don’t see how a new station in Essex is relevant to Yorkshire.
Well 2 new stations in North Warwickshire are now opened-Coventry Arena in North Coventry and Bermuda Park in South Nuneaton. So yes Beaulieu Park station is to be built and is to be opened in 2021 or 2022. Lea Bridge station is to open in June/July this year or in November.
None of those stations are in Yorkshire, which is what the article is about.
Do me a favour then. If you don’t like what I’m on about then it’s easy to get rid of me as in BLOCK ME. Block me then. I don’t need to hear your crap and giving me crap. In fact David you do piss me off every time you comment and some of the comments makes me annoyed. You don’t like what I comment. Don’t reply then.
I have to say, this new railway station (Apperley Bridge) is the most depressing, grey, concrete, soulless, cold, unappealing and ugly railway station I have ever used. would it have hurt to put some posters up?
Yes, imagine the proud parents to many miles away, knowing that her daughter is who directed this work.
Well this was last year.
