Infrarail seminars: The Government’s priorities for rail going forward

Listen to this article

On Tuesday 1 May at 11:50, Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP, Minister of State for Transport will be presenting the Keynote Address ‘Introducing Rail Reform, The Government’s priorities for rail going forward’ at Infrarail.

Theresa Villiers, Minister of State for Transport, will be reviewing the government’s plans for rail reform over the next few years.

Cost savings are needed to make the British rail industry more efficient, to reduce fares (or at least contain fare increases) for passengers, and to reduce the need for government subsidy.

Last year’s McNulty report, and the recently published command paper “Reforming our Railways: Putting the Customer First”, will give the Minister plenty of background material to draw from as she presents the government’s thinking on the state of today’s railways and the best course of action for the future.

Following the Minister’s presentation, there will be a short session of questions and answers which will allow delegates to clarify any further points.
