Professional services company GHD, in a joint venture with AECOM (AGP) has been awarded a Technical Advisory Services contract with Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) for the Geelong Fast Rail project. AGP will provide project support for technical and engineering services, communications, community and stakeholder engagement activities. As part of this, AGP will oversee numerous subconsultants, with secured agreements already in place with more than 34 organisations and service providers.
The Geelong Fast Rail project is Australia’s first faster rail corridor and is expected to cut up to 15 minutes off average travel times between Geelong and Melbourne’s CBD, with a total travel time of around 50 minutes. Project works will include track upgrades between Werribee and Laverton, including new dedicated express track to create the faster route for Geelong services.
AGP has been a successful and long-standing alliance, delivering technical advisory services for transport infrastructure projects in Victoria since 2015, including the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP) and North East Link Project (NELP).
“We’re very proud to have another opportunity to contribute to Victoria’s Big Build alongside our joint venture partner AECOM,” said Chris French, Regional General Manager – Victoria, GHD. “Securing this contract is testament to the trust we’ve established and the quality of the work we’ve delivered together over many years.
“Between us we’ve established an enviable track record in contributing to the successful delivery of transport infrastructure projects across Australia, including NELP, LXRP, the Rail Infrastructure Alliance in Victoria, several Sydney Metro projects and Brisbane’s Cross River Rail project.
“I know our diverse, experienced team of technical advisory specialists is excited about the opportunity to help RPV deliver a rail network upgrade project that unlocks regional prosperity and connects Victorians more effectively,” said Chris.
